New "Facebook alternative" Diaspora went out to seek funding (10.000$)
to build the anti-Facebook.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/196017994/diaspora-the-personally-control... As of now, they got $173,121 from over 4000 people. While that is real
cute, it answers a totally different question: Will people pay for a
social network where their data is private if they want it to be?
Apparently they do pay. The question remaining is whether Facebook
will react appropriately and offer a privacy plan for 3$ a month. Get
paid by the users that complain, let the ones that do not care keep
their friends in one place...
